What to bring....

Water/Water Bottles
It will be hot so please bring a water bottle. We plan on being able to provide water throughout the conference but in case so things go wrong it would be a good idea to bring some emergency bottled water.

Food
There are many volunteers who will be cooking their hearts out for this event and other donations may be available, too. Additionally, there are restaurants within walking distance at most event/action locations. However, a steady stream of food cannot be guaranteed. You are encouraged to bring ready to eat food such as:  granola bars, dried fruit, nuts, trail mix, crackers, peanut butter, jelly, and bread. If you have access to a military supply store, they should have “meals ready to eat” which are full meals that can be consumed on the go.

Utensils and Misc.
While there will be paper products available, to conserve strained resources, you are encouraged to bring a bowl, spoon, fork, and mug (labelled). Flashlights will also come in handy. It also couldn’t hurt to bring extra rolls of toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Tent
Everyone needs to bring their own tents and a cold weather sleeping bag and/or warm blankets. Tarps, or pop up canopies are suggested as well.

Clothing
We have already experience record high temperature but even carry some long sleeve shirts with just in case it gets chilly at night or to offer protection from the sun.

Parking
Parking is challenging, but we always find a way to pull it off. There is a parking garage available at Freedom Square and there are parking meters. Bring lots and lots of quarters. You can’t have too many quarters.

Banners, Props, and Signs
If your Occupation has a banner, please bring it. Any guerrilla theater props are welcome. Have a giant puppet? Bring it along. While we have an abundance of signs, if you have special ones, please bring them.

Law Enforcement
There is a small allocation of bail fund for this event but it is advised that participants meet with their local occupations to coordinate potential bail in advance. Please note that the average disorderly conduct penalty in Michigan is up to 90 days in prison and no more than a $500 fine. While we do not anticipate arrests, we will have representatives from the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) available by phone. We will have point persons rotating shifts as the liaisons between the NLG and OMW.

What Not to Bring
In keeping with our Principles of Safe space, do not bring illegal drugs, weaponry, or alcohol.
